About Our Training

Dr. Chris Payne is a graduate of Tunstall High School in Danville, VA. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the College of William and Mary in 1998 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003.


He received a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2010 after completion of over 500 hours of course study following dental school and was awarded a Mastership in the AGD in 2013 upon completion of over 1800 hours of continuing education following graduation from dental school.


Dr. Payne is a graduate of Progressive Orthodontics Seminars two year study program.


He is a member of the International Association for Orthodontics which is a professional organization established in 1961 primarily for general dentists, pediatric dentists and other dentists that provide orthodontic care to patients. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Piedmont Dental Association and the Danville Regional Dental Society.


Dr. Payne is a certified Invisalign provider and has been recognized as a Premier Provider.

In March of 2015, Dr. Chris Payne became a Fellow in the IAO (International Association of Orthodontics) after a peer-reviewed application process.  Dr. Payne is one of a select few of dentists who is both a Fellow in the International Association for Orthodontics and has a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.
